Roberto Puentes has been a member of the State Bar of Nevada since October 1993. He is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Washoe County Bar Association.
Education is very important to Mr. Puentes. He received his Bachelor of Arts in May 1990 from the University of Nevada, Reno. Roberto majored in Criminal Justice and minored in Business Administration. While at the University of Nevada, Reno Mr. Puentes was on the Dean's List, was Senator of the College of Arts and Science, and was the President of the Law Club. Mr. Puentes obtained his Juris Doctor in March 1993 from the University of Washington School of Law. He was a Nevada Wiche Scholar, a three-years member of the Moot Court Honor Board, and received the American Jurisprudence Award for legal research and writing.
Mr. Puentes legal experience began while he was attending law school. He was a Summer Extern to the Honorable Deborah A. Agosti of the Second Judicial District Court of Nevada during the summer of 1991. During the summer of 1992 Mr. Puentes worked as a Summer Associate for Guild & Hagen, Ltd. writing memoranda and doing legal research. From November 1993 to September 1994 Mr. Puentes worked as a Law Clerk to the Honorable David W. Hagen of the United States District Court. Mr. Puentes did legal research, wrote memoranda, and drafted proposed orders. In 1994 Mr. Puentes began working as a Washoe County Deputy District Attorney in the Criminal Division. He managed his own misdemeanor, gross misdemeanor, and felony case load. Mr. Puentes gained valuable misdemeanor and felony jury trial experience. In 1998 Mr. Puentesopened the Law Office of Roberto Puentes Jr., a general practice with a strong emphasis in criminal defense and personal injury.
Mr. Puentes is very devoted to his family and friends. He is an avid hunter, enjoys fishing, jogging, and softball. He is fluent in Spanish and has served hundreds of Spanish-speaking clients in over a decade of private practice.
